Rules of use
Terms of service
The rules for using the met app and metfriend.pl. In force since 21 October 2026.
This is a translation for your convenience. The Polish version is binding: read it in Polish.
§ 1. Who runs met
- The met app and the metfriend.pl website are run by Jarosław Grasza (referred to as “we”).
- Contact: met@metfriend.pl. This is also the point of contact for users and for the authorities of European Union Member States, the European Commission and the European Board for Digital Services within the meaning of Articles 11 and 12 of the Digital Services Act (DSA). We reply in Polish and English. Messages are answered by a human.
- This document is the rules (regulamin) within the meaning of Article 8 of the Act on Providing Services by Electronic Means (UŚUDE) and the terms and conditions within the meaning of Article 14 of the DSA. We make it available free of charge at metfriend.pl/regulamin/ and in the app under “Profil, O aplikacji” (Profile, About the app). You can save or print it, for example as a PDF from your browser.
- How we process data is described in the Privacy Policy.
§ 2. Definitions
- App: met for iPhone, including the test version in TestFlight.
- Website: metfriend.pl.
- Service: everything we make available in the App and on the Website.
- User (you): a person who uses the Service.
- Account: your account in the App.
- Content: everything you publish or send in the Service, including your profile, plans, events, trips, photos, messages, reactions, lists and places.
§ 3. What met offers
- met is an app for meeting up with friends. As part of the Service you can, in particular:
- create an Account and a profile;
- add friends with a QR code, an invitation link and the “Obok” (Nearby) feature;
- create plans, events and trips, invite people to them and join them;
- write in private and group conversations, which are end-to-end encrypted, and in meet-up conversations;
- use the map and show friends where you are with “Jestem tutaj” (I’m here) and where you are going with “Wybieram się” (I’m heading there);
- enter your free time and look for shared free slots with “Kiedyś” (Someday);
- save plans and places to lists and share them by link;
- react with gestures, receive notifications, report Content and block other users.
- On the Website you will find information about met, sign-ups for testing, and previews of lists and invitations shared by link.
- The Service is free of charge and contains no advertising.
- The App is in testing. Features may change, and some may work with interruptions. The rules for changes are set out in § 13.
§ 4. Technical requirements
- an iPhone with iOS 17 or later and internet access;
- an email address or an Apple or Google account;
- during testing: the TestFlight app and an invitation to test;
- for some features, consent to access your location, camera, photos, microphone, Bluetooth or notifications;
- for the Website: an up-to-date web browser with JavaScript enabled.
§ 5. Account
- We conclude the contract for use of the Service when you create an Account and accept these Terms. The contract is for an indefinite period. Browsing the Website does not require an Account.
- An Account may be created by a person who is at least 16 years old. Meet-ups with strangers are for adults: if you are under 18, do not arrange through met to meet people you do not know, and do not publish public invitations.
- Each person may have one Account. You act in your own name and provide true information.
- You keep your password secure and do not share your Account with other people.
- At any time you can pause your Account (your profile stops being visible to others) or delete it: “Profil, Usuń konto” (Profile, Delete account).
§ 6. Withdrawal and termination
- As a consumer, you may withdraw from the contract within 14 days of its conclusion, without giving a reason and at no cost. It is enough to delete your Account in the App or to send a statement to met@metfriend.pl, for example using the model form at the end of these Terms. The deadline is met if you send the statement before it expires.
- You may terminate the contract at any time by deleting your Account. Termination takes effect immediately.
- If you ask before deleting your Account, we will send you your Content in a commonly used format. This does not apply to the content of end-to-end encrypted conversations, which we cannot read.
- We may terminate the contract only for an important reason:
- a serious or repeated breach of these Terms or of the law, following a decision as described in § 9;
- the discontinuation of the entire Service, with at least 30 days’ notice sent by email or in the App.
- What happens to your data after your Account is deleted is described in the Privacy Policy.
§ 7. Community rules
You are responsible for your Content and your behaviour in met. Providing content of an unlawful nature is prohibited. You will find the same rules in the App under “Profil, Zasady społeczności” (Profile, Community rules):
- Harassment or threats. We do not harass, threaten or intimidate. After a single “no”, we stop writing.
- Hate speech. We do not attack anyone because of their origin, religion, gender, orientation, disability or age.
- Sexual content or nudity. We do not send sexual content or nudity without explicit consent. Never in public content.
- Fraud or spam. We do not deceive, we do not trick people out of money or data, and we do not flood people with advertising.
- Impersonation or fake account. We act in our own name. We do not impersonate other people or brands.
- Safety at meet-ups. Meet-ups should be safe. We do not mislead anyone about the place, purpose or participants.
- Minors. Meet-ups with strangers are for adults.
- Illegal content. We do not publish or send unlawful content.
- Respect. We respect others, including where no rule says so explicitly.
It is also prohibited to: create accounts automatically, collect other users’ data, circumvent security measures, disrupt the operation of the Service, publish another person’s image without their consent where the law requires it, or infringe copyright.
§ 8. Meet-ups and safety
- met helps you arrange to meet, but it does not organise meet-ups and is not a party to them. The participants are responsible for how a meet-up goes.
- We do not verify users’ identity. Arrange your first meeting with a new person in a public place, tell someone close to you where you are going, and do not give money to people you got to know in met.
- If someone is in danger, call 112. A report in met does not replace help from the emergency services.
- Using the internet involves risks such as impersonation, phishing or malicious links. Do not give your password to anyone and do not open suspicious links. Information about the data stored on your device is in the Privacy Policy.
§ 9. Reports and moderation
- You can report content or a person in the App: from their profile card, from the message menu or from the meet-up details. The reported person will not find out who reported them.
- People without an Account and authorities report content to met@metfriend.pl. A report should contain:
- an explanation of why the content is unlawful or breaches these Terms;
- a precise indication of the content, for example a link, the name of the post or profile, and the date;
- the first name and email address of the person making the report (this does not apply to reports of child sexual abuse);
- a statement that the person making the report believes in good faith that the information provided is accurate and complete.
- Reports are handled by moderators we appoint, diligently, impartially and without undue delay.
- The only automated tool: a public plan, event or trip reported by three different people is temporarily hidden until a moderator decides. All decisions are made by people.
- The possible decisions are: no breach, a warning, hiding or removing Content, suspending the Account for 24 hours, 7 days or 30 days, and banning the Account indefinitely. We match them to the seriousness and recurrence of the breach, taking into account the rights of all parties, including freedom of expression.
- Every decision comes with a statement of reasons in line with Article 17 of the DSA: what we did, under which rule or legal provision, on the basis of which facts, whether an automated tool helped with it, and how you can appeal. We provide it in the App or by email.
- You can appeal against a suspension or a ban in the App. You can appeal against other decisions, including those concerning your report, at met@metfriend.pl within 6 months. We will reply within 14 days, and where possible the appeal will be considered by a different person from the one who made the decision. You can also always take the matter to court.
- If we become aware of a criminal offence threatening people’s life or safety, we will notify the law enforcement authorities.
§ 10. Your Content
- Content you create remains yours.
- By publishing Content, you grant us a non-exclusive, free-of-charge licence, without territorial limitation, to record and reproduce it in the memory of servers and devices, and to display it and make it available to the people you show it to, in line with the visibility you have chosen. The licence serves solely the operation of the Service and expires when you delete the Content, except for copies we must keep under the Privacy Policy (for example in reports).
- You only publish Content you have the rights to. You publish another person’s image with their consent where the law requires it.
- We do not sell your Content and do not use it for advertising.
§ 11. Third-party services
- The App includes Google Maps features and content. Their use is subject to the Google Maps/Google Earth Additional Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy.
- Signing in with Apple or Google, the App Store and TestFlight are subject to those companies’ rules.
§ 12. Liability and complaints
- We make sure that met works securely and without interruption, but technical interruptions may occur, especially during testing. We will give notice of planned longer interruptions in the App.
- As a hosting service provider, we are not liable for users’ Content whose unlawful nature we are not aware of. Once we receive credible information, we act without delay.
- We are responsible for the Service’s conformity with the contract throughout the period of its supply, in accordance with the Polish Consumer Rights Act, and we provide the updates needed to keep it in conformity, including security updates.
- Submit complaints to met@metfriend.pl. Say what the complaint concerns, what is not working and what you expect, and give your Account’s email address. We will reply by email within 14 days. If we do not reply within that time, the complaint is deemed accepted.
- You can use the free help of a municipal or county consumer ombudsman (rzecznik konsumentów) or a provincial inspectorate of the Trade Inspection (Inspekcja Handlowa). You will find information at prawakonsumenta.uokik.gov.pl.
- These Terms do not exclude or limit our liability or your rights to the extent that the law does not permit this.
§ 13. Changes to the Service and these Terms
- We may change the Service for valid reasons: developing and improving met, security, changes in the law, changes at our providers (Apple, Google, Supabase, Vercel) or the end of testing. A change costs you nothing.
- We may change these Terms for important reasons: changes in the law or in decisions of authorities, changes to the scope or manner of providing the Service, security, preventing abuse, changes to our details, or clarifying unclear provisions.
- We will notify you at least 14 days in advance, by email or in the App, of a change to these Terms or of a change to the Service that significantly and adversely affects your use of it. If you do not agree, you may terminate the contract free of charge by deleting your Account within 30 days of receiving the notice.
- Transferring the contract to another entity, for example to a company that runs met in the future, requires your consent.
§ 14. Final provisions
- The contract is governed by Polish law. If you are a consumer, you do not lose the protection given to you by the law of the country where you live.
- Disputes are resolved by the court having jurisdiction under the general rules.
- We also apply the consumer provisions of these Terms to a sole trader when the contract is not of a professional nature for them.
- These Terms apply from 21 October 2026.
