What to do in Warsaw in the evening with friends

By the Vistula, over food, with a view, on the ice or at the cinema: places in Warsaw for an evening out with a few friends. Each one comes with its district and a website with up-to-date information.

A weeknight evening is short on time and even shorter on patience for long arrangements. So below are places where it’s easy to meet up as a small group: by the Vistula, over food, with a view, on the move, at the cinema and at the theatre. Programmes and seasons change through the year, so check the venue’s website before you head out.

By the Vistula

By the river, you can start the evening with a walk and decide what’s next along the way. One meeting point is enough, and you can fill in the rest as you go.

Vistula Boulevards

Śródmieście (some stretches in Żoliborz) · getting there: metro Centrum Nauki Kopernik · website

The boulevards are a promenade several kilometres long on the left bank of the Vistula. In the evening they come alive mainly in season, in spring and summer, when the bars in the pavilions and the clubs are open. Centrum Nauki Kopernik metro station is right on the waterfront, so after work you can go straight down to the water. A walk along the river with a stop at the pavilions is a simple plan for a warm evening, even for a bigger group, because nobody has to hold a table for the whole crew. Each stretch has its own name, so put a specific one in your plan, not just “by the Vistula”. In autumn and winter fewer places are open, so check what’s on before you leave the metro.

Multimedia Fountain Park

Śródmieście (Nowe Miasto) · website

The fountains have been running since 2011 on skwer 1 Dywizji Pancernej WP, between Boleść, Wybrzeże Gdańskie, Sanguszki and Rybaki streets. This is Podzamcze, at the foot of the Old Town and right next to the boulevards. The water and light shows run in season, from May to September. They are put on by Stołeczna Estrada, with a new show every year. A show after dark is a ready-made fixture that’s easy to arrange a meet-up around: before and after it there’s time for a walk by the Vistula. You can come to the show as a bigger group and then split up as you please: some off to dinner, some further along the river. In winter, light takes over from water, because the park has winter illuminations. Check the show dates on the organiser’s website.

Eating out

When each of you fancies something different, pick a place with lots of cuisines under one roof. Nobody has to give way, and you’re still together.

Elektrownia Powiśle

Śródmieście (Powiśle) · getting there: metro Centrum Nauki Kopernik · website

The complex at Dobra 42 has been open since 2020 in a former power station. Inside there’s a food hall with lots of different food concepts, plus bars, restaurants and cafés. Each of you picks a different cuisine and then you all sit down at one table, so dinner doesn’t need a vote. The website also lists events, so it’s worth checking whether something’s on. It’s about a 2-minute walk from Centrum Nauki Kopernik metro station. The same station is by the boulevards, so after dinner it’s easy to carry on with a walk by the Vistula.

Nocny Market

Wola · getting there: metro Rondo Daszyńskiego · website

Nocny Market opened in 2016 on the old platforms of Warszawa Główna station, on Towarowa. It’s seasonal, usually running from May to September, and the organisers announce the dates of each season. Street food on old railway platforms is a ready-made plan for a warm evening: each of you gets something different, then you stand together and try each other’s. With a bigger crew, agree on one meeting point in the plan’s chat, because it’s easy to drift apart among the stalls. Before you post the plan, check whether the market has opened yet, for example on the city’s go2warsaw.pl portal. Out of season, take the same idea indoors, for example to Elektrownia Powiśle.

With a view

In the evening the city looks different from above than it does by day. You can choose between two terraces in high-rises and a mound in a park.

PKiN viewing terrace

Śródmieście · getting there: metro Centrum · website

The terrace is on the 30th floor of the Palace of Culture and Science, 114 metres up. It’s the classic view of the city and a good start to the evening when someone in your group is from outside Warsaw. From up there, everyone hunts for their own address: whoever spots their home picks the place for dinner. Once you’re back down, you’re right in the centre, by Centrum metro station on plac Defilad, so it’s easy to move on. The main entrance is on Marszałkowska Street. The terrace’s website has current notices, so check them before you go.

Highline Warsaw (Varso Tower)

Wola · getting there: Dworzec Centralny · website

Highline is a terrace on the 53rd floor of Varso Tower, 230 metres up, with a view all the way round, 360 degrees. It has been open since 2025. It’s a strong choice for an evening when someone in your group has visitors from another city or there’s something to celebrate: a birthday, a new job, the end of a project. The entrance is at Chmielna 69, by the exit from Dworzec Centralny, so make that your meeting point. It’s a special-occasion outing, so check the entry rules on the terrace’s website and post the plan well ahead, so the whole group has time to let you know.

Warsaw Uprising Mound

Mokotów · website

The mound stands in Park Akcji “Burza” on Bartycka Street. After its regeneration, the park reopened in July 2023. Steps lead to the top, where there’s a two-level viewing platform. The park has won several awards, including the European Prize for Urban Public Space. Climbing to the top together is a good excuse for a walk and a chat, and the platform gives you a panorama of the city. It’s a good spot for a smaller group when nobody feels like sitting in a bar. Bring something warm for an evening climb.

On the move

When talking round a table isn’t enough, go for the ice or the bowling. It’s easier to laugh when you’re moving, and the score doesn’t matter anyway.

COS Torwar ice rink

Śródmieście (Ujazdów) · getting there: bus, Torwar stop · website

The COS Torwar ice rink is at Łazienkowska 6a, next to the Torwar arena, and has public skating sessions. You don’t need to be able to skate to have fun on the ice: just stick together and laugh at the falls. Whoever is steadier on skates can pull the rest along. Skating also works well when there’s someone new in the group: the conversation starts by itself while everyone is finding their balance. The rink is indoors, so the plan doesn’t depend on the weather, but it does have its seasons: check the public session dates on the venue’s website.

Hulakula

Praga-Północ · website

Hulakula at Jagiellońska 82b has 28 bowling lanes, 8 pool tables, an arcade games zone, a karaoke room, and a restaurant and bars. Bowling keeps the whole group busy at once, and whoever drops out of the game has pool, the arcade machines or karaoke right there. Nobody sits around doing nothing, even with a big crew, and the karaoke room makes a good forfeit for the losing team. Split into teams on neighbouring lanes and note the score in the plan’s chat, so there’s something to play for next time.

Culture in the evening

A film or a play gives you something to talk about for the rest of the evening. The conversation afterwards can be as good as what was on screen or on stage.

Kino Muranów

Śródmieście · getting there: metro Ratusz Arsenał · website

The cinema at Andersa 5, by plac Bankowy, opened in 1951 and has been run by Gutek Film since 1994. Two of its screens are named Zbyszek and Gerard, after Zbigniew Cybulski and Gérard Philipe, and Pola and Ingrid were added after the 2016 refurbishment. It’s a cinema with an ambitious programme, good for the kind of film you want to talk about afterwards. There’s a café on site, so you don’t have to go anywhere else to talk after the film. Meet in the café before the screening: anyone running late can go straight in.

Nowy Teatr

Mokotów · getting there: tram, Dworkowa stop · website

Nowy Teatr performs in a historic MPO workshop hall from 1927 at Madalińskiego 10/16. The auditorium seats around 450. The hall itself is a reason to arrive a little early and look around. A show in a post-industrial space makes for an evening you’ll be talking about long after you leave. The programme is on the theatre’s website, so choose a show together and post a plan with a specific date. Buy the tickets in one go so you can sit together.

How to get the crew together

Post a plan in met with the place on the map, for example Elektrownia Powiśle or Kino Muranów. Your friends see it straight away, and whoever can make it is in. You agree the meeting time and who buys the tickets in the plan’s chat.
